Wow - exciting stuff, eh? Even the squirrels had a role to play! Reading it again after all these years, I must admit to being a little disappointed on two counts. Firstly, since this is the final climactic battle, why didn't I include more illustrations? Secondly, and far more importantly ... What happended to the swamp woggles? They just disappeared!

The influence of the Narnia books is obvious everywhere of course, from the decision to arm Joan with a bow (so she could stay on the fringes of the battle) to the mysterious Tandar being able to restore the fallen to life. (I'm sure I had no idea why Aslan was able to do that when I first read C.S. Lewis!) Of course, having your heart pierced by a unicorn's horn is a pretty painful way to be resurrected but - hey - what an image!

What I'm wondering now is why Sashtan chose to resurrect his uncle rather than another fallen comrade. I'm trying not to read the chapters ahead of posting them, so it'll be as much of a surprise to me as it is to you ... Assuming there is a reason!

Please do feel free to leave any comments in the Prince Sashtan forum. But be gentle - I was only young!
