Chapter 7
Getting the army - and plans

They searched in every place that they could think of and at six o'clock in the evening Sashtan made a list of the "army" that he had gathered; and completed, it read:

The next day, Dae suggested searching the mountains for Dwarfs, Giants, Unicorns and more centaurs; and everyone agreed. It took ten minutes to reach the mountain, thirty minutes after that to find a cave; and only Nite went in.

Nite sang a song that was more sweet than even a fairy's voice; and nearly immediately after that a thunder of hooves could be heard racing to the entrance, and out came Nite leading seven centaurs, three winged horses and four unicorns.

"Hooray," said Joan and Chris. And after that a loud groaning noise filled the air and a mountain moved ... No ... no ... no, it wasn't a mountain. It was one of the remaining giants!!!

Then Sashtan made a new list.

Then they made plans and cunning plans they were, too.

"Tishma and Sashtan for King ... Company, ha-a-alt!" came a voice and there stood an army of Dwarfs. Then the plans were changed but they were just as cunning.

During the night everybody took up their positions. The giant planted a fence of trees round the castle and a dwarf hid in every tree with a bow and arrow. The two squirrels hid by the draw-bridge ready to give signals. The two swamp woggles joined Sashtan's column which consisted of the swamp woggles, two unicorns, Chris, two winged horses, and Nite and Dae. The parrot was made the messenger. The other two unicorns got ready in the lion's column which consisted of the two unicorns, the two winged horses and the other seven centaurs. They all were hidden well and had a good sleep.

The giant was to pick up the whole of Sashtan's army and run if they were forced to retreat.
