As you can see from the less than subtle amendment to the handwritten original of Page 1, I was far from sure when I wrote this whether there even were any mountains in England! (Well, I knew there weren't any in the East End of London where I lived!)

I like the way the King is introduced on this page. Or rather, the way he isn't! He's just very casually mentioned at the end of the third paragraph as if the reader should have known he was there already. Gaah! So much still to learn!

I'm not sure why I appropriated the character of Mary Poppins. I suspect I had only recently been to see the Disney film and so it was fresh in my memory. (Plot spoiler - it's not the real Mary Poppins!)
