The entire premise for this story is based around a single piece of schoolboy humour. There are, it seems, parts of Wales where Welsh is still more widely spoken than English. As a result, roadsigns and other important information is posted in both languages. One of the first such roadsigns we encountered on this particular trip read "Gofal" and, underneath, the word: "Caution!"
Which, of course, led to the inevitable conclusion that, damn, but those Gofals were obviously dangerous critters!
As for the cast list here, I have no idea why I used a cut-out for "Gus" in Panel 1 (but I suspect it was probably because that was easier than trying to draw an actual likeness of the teacher concerned!) Lynne, you may notice, bears a striking resemblance to Olga from The House That Drac Built. This is because, as I mentioned there, the sixteen year old me could only draw one "attractive female" face. Much like most professional comic artists today, in fact.
I've kept the names Bomber and Jacko since those are nicknames. I have, however, substituted the names Biddle and Nunchuk for the actual surnames of those two particular characters. Bomber, as far as I can remember, didn't really carry a bazooka. But he might have done. He did have a certain militaristic streak!
