When we first met Boudicca back in Chapter 4, she was carrying a shield. She hasn't used it since then, and so I really wanted to reintroduce it here in the finale. Sharp-eyed readers will notice that the shield matches her new outfit, too. Well, a girl just has to accessorise!

The question I had to answer, though, was how to use it? If she skimmed it through the air, it would be too reminiscent of Captain America. If she used it to surf over her enemies it would be too Legolas. At the time, I was also quite keen on including a final action scene involving the "chariot" but - short of having it drive into the huge altar - I hadn't been able to come up with a scenario I liked.

In the end, I hit upon the idea of combining the shield and the chariot like this. The car is relegated to a pretty minor role but at least we do get to glimpse it one more time!
