This chapter may have been inserted into the middle of the book primarily to allow for a little exposition but, one of the additional benefits of inserting it here, was that it also gave me the opportunity to flesh out the bad guys a little.

Although our villains did make fleeting appearances earlier, Chapters 1 - 8 were very much about introducing the good guys. Here, however, we have two of our principal villains enjoying a little screen time (or, more accurately, page time!), not blasting everything in sight for a change, but actually indulging in a little conversation.

What I think is most remarkable about this page, however, is just how well Nickel and Qoiri have captured the look and "feel" of Shades just two pages into their run.
