More cool expressions from Harsho on this page. To me, this page always reads like it should have come out of a Jack Kirby comic. I feel like the characters should all be standing up, facing each other down, legs planted firmly apart with fingers and fists being waved in each other's faces. I'm totally overwhelmed that Harsho could capture all that with the figures still seated!

From the feedback I've had to Shades so far, I think it's fair to say that Ryan is not exactly well-loved out there in web-land and I don't suppose this page is going to endear him to anyone!

Ryan is, in fact, a composite of several real-life teenagers I've worked with over the years - always impatient to move on to the next thing, to get "stuck in", never taking the time to fully understand how he's supposed to do what he's supposed to be doing ... just that bit over-anxious to prove himself, really.

But don't judge him too harshly - he's a good kid at heart. Honest!
