I included the reference to W.W.E. on this page for two reasons. Firstly because it's such an obvious target when speaking of choreographed fights but secondly and (as far as Shades is concerned) more importantly, because of the costumes.

Superman's skin-tight, underpants-over-the-leggings costume is said to have been based on the outfits typically worn at the time by circus strong men. It seems to me that the natural successors to those muscle-bound entertainers are the W.W.E. stars of today - stars who, in many cases, must surely have modelled their costumes on those in comic books. The influences have come full-circle and, with Stan being a tailor to the community, well - I felt the mutual debt ought to be recognised!

Harsho's work on the facial expressions is especially good here too. I particularly like Doug in the two centre panels and seeing Ryan in high spirits for a change is also a delight ... even if he does still manage to put everyone's noses out of joint!
