We'll name him formally later but the guy in the last two panels with the wild tufts of hair and tattoos similar to those of the Shaman is Bedlam, the last of our trio of major villains. I named him Bedlam for a number of reasons (and none of them has anything to do with the villain in My Super Ex-Girlfiend, which I saw for the first time this weekend. Dreadful!)
Firstly, with its obvious connotations of chaos and mayhem, Bedlam is just such a cool name for a villain. The clincher for me, though, is more personal. I was born and raised in a part of London's East End called Bethnal Green. I'm no historian (so this could be totally wrong!) but, I've always been told that the area became known as "Bethnal Green" because that was the area of parkland where the inmates of the Bedlam insane asylum were allowed to walk and exercise for the "amusement" of the general public - "Bethnal" apparently being derived from Bedlam (or "Bethlehem", via "Bednall").
In fact, the park where I spent many a happy childhood hour may have been called "Bethnal Green Gardens" by the council but, to all of us who lived there, it was always known as "Barmy Park". Okay - local history lesson over!
