"Wow! She is, like, so cool!" I don't know what you guys think about Boo, but that pretty much sums up my feelings!

When I began planning the characters for "Shades" I gave a lot of thought to their back-stories, to their appearance and what their roles were going to be within the story. One of the things I didn't plan was that Boo should necessarily be more involved in the fisticuffs than the others.

Somehow, though, that's what she became. Maybe I should have seen it coming. When you put a fiery-tempered warrior in a story and then instil in them the need to protect the underdog, what can you expect?!

Becky's growing admiration for Boo is an angle I'm quite fond of, too. They say there are few positive role models for girls in super hero comics and so I like the idea that Becky manages to find one.
