The direct inspiration behind the neat little plot device on this page is a true story (or so I've been led to believe!)

I used to work with a lady who had a twin sister (rather than a telepathic one!) She told me the story of how she'd woken up one morning, aching all over for no apparent reason. She telephoned her twin (who lived in Spain) and found that a cupboard had fallen on her!

She also told me another (even better!) anecdote. Apparently, for several days in a row, she found herself being sick as soon as she woke up each morning. Eventually she phoned her twin sister in Spain and asked her if she was pregnant. The sister denied it but went to the doctor, anyway (just to be sure!) It turned out she was. One twin got the pregnancy, the other got the morning sickness ... division of labour at it's most literal!
