When designing Boo, I had a number of themes I wanted to incorporate. One of the features I was most pleased with, however, was her hair.

For reasons that will become apparent later, it had to be red. That part was easy. As with the Shaman's "disciples", however, I wanted the hair to look dramatic when Boo was in full-on battle-mode.

I toyed with the idea of braids but rejected that idea on the grounds that it was too close to the hairstyle worn by Starflower and Starflare. Eventually I hit upon the idea of this rather wild "mane" of hair and I knew immediately that it was right!

Not only does it suit Boo's rather incendiary nature, but it also conjures up images of a lion, the traditional image of British courage and derring-do!
