I can't tell you how much I love this page! I know Harsho has a fondness for the opening splash to Chapter 2 (sorry - you'll have to wait for that one!) but - as good as that is - I still remember the elation I felt when I saw this page for the first time.

Planning the plot for and actually writing the script for "Shades" must have taken something close to two years. Re-writes, revisions and refinements (which are still ongoing!) added several more months to that and then I still had to find an artist who could present the story the way I'd imagined it.

By the time Harsho came on board, therefore, there had been several occasions when I'd begun to wonder if the project would ever really see the light of day ...

This first page then - as well as being a wonderfully atmospheric view of Tower Bridge by Harsho - marked the point at which I could feel confident the previous two years of "pre-production" were actually going to result in the graphic novel I'd been carrying around in my head for so long!
