This is a page where I felt that overwhelming urge to "tinker" that I was telling you about. Without giving away too much of the story for those of you who are reading these notes before completing the comic for the first time, Kurt and Diana are about to get very ... close!

I could have left it as it was, of course. There was nothing wrong with the way Nickel had written it. But something kept nagging away at me, telling me that their sudden intimacy would make more sense if Diana and Kurt had already been in a relationship before embarking on their interstellar adventure. And so, unable to resist the urge to tinker, I decided to create one for them.

I tried to hint at this relationship on Page 2 where Kurt first sees that Diana is the next cryo subject to be thawed and realises what he might have to do to her. Here, in Panel 5, I make a more open reference to it. Well, they do make a lovely couple!
